Burned my hair!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

Ok, this was like a year ago. One day at work i was cleaning the grill and the grease was really hot and some of it got on the crown of my head. It burned really bad. It was hot. lol and now i didnt realize it but i think it thinned my hair where it burned it. Could it have done that?
