What are the safest online gambling American sites?

I am hesitant to subscribe to any of these online gambling sites, just for fun sometimes. I know a lot of these casinos are based overseas and are somewhat shady. Anyone have any experience with the legitimate ones and if there are any suggestions, please advise. Thanks
