Why doesn't sheer blonde go blonder work for brunettes?

I was looking at sheer blonde go blonder lightening spray and it said "NOT SUITABLE FOR USE ON MEDIUM BROWN OR DARKER SHADES OF HAIR" I was wondering if anyone knew why and if it was just because the results aren't gradual or if it does something really weird to your hair? I have medium brown thin hair if this helps. Thanks for any help!!!
