What's a good hair dye brand?

I have naturally really blonde hair, and me and my friends are planning to dye it brown some time int he near future, just to see what it would look like etc. What's a good brand of hair dye that won't ruin my thin, soft hair, that will also hold up if I need to dye it again? I'm in the UK if that makes any difference :)
