When did the AQHA start DNA testing?

I have a 17 year old registered QH mare. Somebody has stolen her and I have informed the local authorities and all the sale barns in the area have been notified to be on the lookout. I have her papers but I have not had them transferred into my name yet as she was a very new purchase. I assume she has bred at least one foal and the previous owners had her for 15 years. Is it likely that the AQHA have her DNA on file? I imagine that at some point it was required even if it wasn't mandatory in 1994 and I don't know if it was, I could find no info on their website.
