Question About Tattoo Location?

I want to get my sons name going down my rib cage. Ive been told that i probably wont be able to handle it since I'm so small/thin is there anyone out there by EXPERIENCE that can let me into what ill be expecting? i want the lettering nice and thin (if that helps) and i am also aware that everyone's pain tolerance is different thanks :)
